Back in March the lovely Karin from Ute Och Inne tagged me with an
interesting challenge called 'Best & Pest' to share something you love
and dislike about your home... Well I have several favourites but
since there were a few comments on my rather unique bathroom sink
recently (shown a couple of posts down in 'Project Green'..) I chose
this as my favourite thing ~ it was made by a local artist. I was
intending to buy a plain red basin but when I got there I saw this one
knew it had to be mine, it has the same red in it's beautiful patterns
As you can see by the paint samples and loose tiles (we're now going
with the lighter paint in the small patch) this room is unfinished..
We've had the sink there for 5 years though!..some things take a
long time for M to mull over, and do everything himself, even
milling the timber from a tree for the cabinet as well as building it
The cabinet was worth the wait though - it's made from blackwood
which is a Tasmanian native acacia (wattle), a lovely dark timber
Another favourite is the tv/music cabinet which M made from different
Tasmanian timbers: celery top pine and horizontal scrub {in the doors}
..and now for the PEST...although there are several things that irk
me, mainly because they're half finished, the most annoying today is
this mess right outside the back door... M started excavating after we
had our drive-way upgraded at the end of last year and the plan is
to continue the brick paving though and create a more level area
It's a big, labour intensive job and could be ongoing for at least
another year... it's a work in progress just like the rock studio here
It's not so much that's the eyesore factor but all the dust and grit it
creates, a lot of which is trekked into the house on everyone's shoes!
Moving right along...

Pat from Mille Fiori Favoriti was so sweet to give me this Arte Y Pico
Award earlier in the week... This is an award given for creativity,
design, interesting material and good contribution to the blogging
community. I'm not sure my blog really fits the criteria but I am
very pleased to have been given this anyway.... so thank you Pat!
If you haven't visited Pat's blog, it's a treat to see her wonderful
photos and learn about so many interesting places around her home
in Brooklyn, New York.....so please pop on over and say hello :O)
I'm not going to pass this award on because it's too hard to choose
just 5 blogs..instead I'll invite you to check out my 'blogroll' over in
the right sidebar.. some of these blogs you might already know, but
hopefully there's some new ones you'll love, just a click away! :O)
Almost half the weekend is over already...enjoy what's left!
