What a difference a little sunshine makes.. still traces of snow on the hills and the sun is streaming through the house at the moment.. I'm feeling more energised today :D
As promised I've posted the other soup made yesterday..,this would have to be my second favourite soup after pumpkin.. Mulligatawny! I know there are many different versions out there.. this one has vegies, brown lentils and bacon but can easily be changedup to whatever you have on hand.. It's econimical to make and keeps well in the fridge, the flavours only intensify! We had ours with yummy sourdough bread:)
I'm not the only one around here enjoying the sun today.. don't think I've introduced my 5 other daughters before... We have 2 golden, 2 bantam and one large old black hen who has given up laying, but does love to keep the youngsters in order..
..and she's a bit of a poser too!(should have been a project black subject Annette)
These girls have been very well behaved in the last 2 weeks..
Any signs of Spring in my earlier post have quickly gone by the wayside.. Freezin' cold for the last couple of days.. with a decentcoating of snow on the hills around here.. This shot was taken looking north from our deck this morning.
I know it looks a long way off but snow is pretty special down here.. rarely settling on the ground at our place..certainly felt cold enough though!..Perfect weather for soup, I've made 2 big pots full today, the pumpkin soup from here and another favourite. I'll wait until tomorrow to post that one (if there's any left!) and also add the recipe :)
A wonderful bloggy friend from Ute och Inne, Karin passed on this award earlier in the week. Karin has the most beautiful blog..it's always a delight to visit and see the incredible photos of her garden..so many stunning blooms and her interior decorating and wire and bead crafts are so lovely.. I was very lucky to receive one in a swap :)
There seems to be a heap of awards making their around the blogs at the moment, so I've decided not to pass this on but just thank everyone for their sweet comments, I really appreciate your visits and love visiting your blogs..which ALL make my day! Until tomorrow, Gx
A late entry..I've been out nearly the whole weekend..not many opportunities with the sun out either..so this one will have to do!.. 3 shadows created by the ropes.. this is the girls swing under their cubby house.. hardy ever used these days.. cause Jesse tries to eat their shoes on the way through! LOL
..I'm about to catch up ona few other shadow shots.. starting with Tracy (the wonderful host of SSS).I hope everyone has had an enjoyable weekend! Gx
...Oh and I almost forgot.. I joined my first scrapbook 'cybercrop' last night (scrapping and chat) over at Scrapboxx. Speed scrapping is new to me.. I usually take ages to get organised and decide on papers etc.. but it was heaps of fun.. I did this page of our dear old boy Nelson (RIP)..he was a beautiful kelpie x collie .. and livedto chase balls and sticks until the age of 14 :)
There was a pleasant surprise on looking out the window this morning.. the first buds on my favourite camellia (well actually I have 3 but 2 refuseto flower!)
...and a debut bud on one azalea...
This is a Tasmanian native shrub Banksia marginata..not as speccy as some of it's mainland Australian relatives..but it's one of my favourites...
It's wonderfulto see new flowers (dead ones behind)..because I collected the seeds and propagated it and it's one of only a few that survived in the dry soil we have here.. it has become quite tall...look at that gorgeous blue sky.. a rarity around here lately.
some new buds on the verbena
a little pottery man/urn thing?.. sits on the rail.. 50c at a garage sale a few years ago
and last but not least.. Jesse boy..on the 11th attempt he sat still..only after hearing the chicken squawking..he usually can't sit still for a second.. that's why so few pics I can't believe how calm and well behaved he looks here!:D
Inkurable Stampers is a recently discovered challenge blog I'm enjoying.. Being new to the stamping game, I thought it would be fun to have a go at the monthly challenges and try out some new goodies I've bought :)
This month's theme is to useat least one flourish stamp on either a card, scrap page or off the page item... so here is my entry for July:
The corner stamp is 'Swirl' by Heidi Swapp
If you are interested in stamping check out Inkurable Stampers for some beautiful work by the blog host Sarah and the other participants :D Happy Tuesday all
I was pleased to get this page finished today and use the photo I've had set aside for so long.. I tried to pick up the colours in her singlet and the water. This weekend has gone by so fast! It's a milder night here and we have some more rain which is good. :)
I've finally added the recipe for the Lemon & Raisin Pikelets, it's here!
Wow, the sun just came out so I raced outside to find an interesting shadow.. So I ended up crawling under the verandah to get this one and tripped as I climbed up the garden wall, fell on one knee..ouch, but it was worth it..didn't want to miss another week.. LOL Head on over to Hey Harriet if you'd like to have a a go yourself or to see the other shadow shots for today.. I'll be back later today...BFN, Gx
I've been tagged this week by Fishing Guy and Pat Thanks guys...this was so much fun!
Here is the tag: "List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the
genre, whether they have words, or even if they are not any good, but
they must be songs you’re really enjoying now.."
I've decided to go with some fave tunes from the 80's since I've been listening to many of these lately while downloading songs to my new iPod shuffle :) I still enjoy listening all these years later and each one brings back memories of where my life was at the time.. music has always been very important to me.. :)
if you click on the song name you can watch the video clip on YouTube :)
...now to pass on to 7 others (always optional of course)
Fiskars Craft are running an 'Around the World' comp and will be having lots of giveaways... All you have to do is follow this link and leave a comment on the Fiskars post with your name and country and my name and country (Australia)..
This week's challenge at Daring Card Makers is to make a card which reminds you of winter.. quite appropriate given our frosty mornings of late! This was avery quick and easy one using some transparencies and stickers from KI Memories. Not your standard winter colours I guess, but something a bit of fun anyway :)
A BIG thank you to Manuela for giving me an award yesterday on her blog!
Manuela has some lovely scrap pages and cards on her blog... Instead of passing it on to individuals I will just dedicate to all the blogs I visit as I love them all! : )
Here are a couple of quick scrapbook pages for the mini-albums I've been doing the girls.. a great way to use up a few single photos from when they were younger.
This is one of my favourite pics of Rhiannon.. The large vellum flowers on the left are from the RAK I won recently on the Fiskars blog.. I was lucky to win 2 sets: a purple and red : ) For those who love to scrap or make cards.. there's heaps of ideas and inspiration on this blog.. and of course competitions! :)
I have a Jem home sick again today with an ear infection.. but she is feeling much brighter this afternoon and has just made some yummy lemon and raisin pikelets for our afternoon tea... Yes, she's still wearing her PJ's under the apron! :) I will post the recipe in right side bar tonight. BFN Gx
