Oops. i forgot to post about Father's Day earlier this month..we spent a lovely afternoon at one of our favourite spots...Tinderbox Marine Reserve. The weather was kind as we'd been having a lot of rain (everything is so green)..and we had a barbeque lunch by the river..
Rhi looking very much the teenager..
The girls decided to have a little competition to see who could make it back to the picnic spot first, wearing anklets made from seaweed..
here's my dear Dad, it was so great to spent it with him :)
I've gone all prehistoric and 'jurassic' today..these photos were taken during my little trip with Jem recently at the Melbourne Museum
you can see my camera on the left here..it was difficult to get a good shot as there were about 5 school groups in the room with us!! very excited school groups :)
I'm off to check out the other shadow shooter's shots via Hey Harriet..will you join me? Have a happy Sunday..back to the routines tomorrow, school holidays is over sadly..it was fun while it lasted though! :)
This month's challenge at What's Ad About!?! is based on the Tetley Tea Ad and the technique to use is stamping..as little as or as much as you like.. For my layout I was inspired by the bright colours, flowers and birds and the music..The little flower ladybird and yellow bird on the rainbow are all stamped. I watched the ad a few times and saw something new each time. I hope you can join in..you canfind the Ad and wonderful examples from the rest of the creative team here
This layout was a mad rush as I had to finish late the night Jem and I returned home from Melbourne, but I think it sort of suits the garden theme..at least my garden that is..which is not neat and orderly, just a jumble of colour and texture thrown together..and 'rambling' ..how I like it lol. This one was for embellished idol round 6
I've been busy leaning something new this week and enrolled in Dina's art journaling 101 class over at Get it Scrapped..It's amazing and I wish I had started it ages ago.. I would like to get a few more pages done..I'm working on 2 journals at the same time and then I will share :) Wishing you a fabulous weekend to come Gx
Some of you will know that I am not a sewer (unless it's on cardstock or patterned paper), I can only do basic hand-stitching, for sewing on a button or darning a sock etc..and sewing machinesand I clash like nothing else..something to do with having a lead foot lol..so I decided to challengemyself and create something for Miss R to wear. This week's challenge at embellished idol is to create a piece of wearable art, and even though I was eliminated from the comp last week I decided to go ahead to try it anyway..here's the result
don't look too closely at the stitching..I had a few issues with the stretchy t-shirt material
and fraying of the fabric in theleaves, having to redo a couple..but all in all I am rather pleased
with it and looking forward to experimenting further. I came up with the design in my head
straight away, but the stitchingwas pretty time consuming, but enjoyable...I've since been
told about interface to adhere theshapes which I will look into next time :)
there's now an extra leaf sewn on above..didn't think it was balanced properly before!
I'll be back soon with some scrapping and shadows..it's a lovelySpring day..and guess what.. we've have sunshine!! so I really should go out and enjoy it..Have a lovely Saturday :)
Jem and I had a fabulous time away in Melbourne for a few days..we visited the zoo, travelled on planes, trains and trams, watched the fire show at Southbank and got a little excessive in the eating, drinking coffee (Jem had hot chocolates and ice creams) and shopping departments! So many factory outlets and gorgeous cafes everywhere you step...it's a dangerous city lol
Here are some of the experiences we had along the way..
the amazing dome ceiling in the La Trobe Reading Room of the State Library
Following the labyrinths in the mind and body section of the Melbourne Museum
WARNING..creepy pic..couldn't resist getting Jem to pose behind the glass..
graffiti with artwork pasted over..was in lane-way somewhere between Bourke Street and Flinders St..sorry I've forgotten which one
This was Jem's favourite graffiti
on the free city circle tram - a wonderful way to get around the city
we went to see the new pixar movie 'Up' and both loved it!While at the cinema, Jem posed behind the poster for another movie coming soon..Where the Wild Things Are..
iced chocolate at the Crown
I haven't worked out how to use my new camera at night..this was far more speccy IRL
We spent half a day at Melbourne Zoo..This was definitely Jem's hightlight! We caught the train and arrived right on openingand a lot of the animals were still sleeping lol..
Jem's favourite - the meerkat loved having his picture taken :)
pygmy hippo..so cute
very entertaining - the mandrill
the tiger was pacing the gate behind the bamboo as it was feeding time
I didn't realise that seagull and flown into the shot until just now lol
My favourite the Orang Utang
the spectacular Cairns Birdwing in the butterfly house
It was a little windy while we were at the zoo and the bamboo was so beautiful..
If you're still with me..hope you enjoyed this little tour of Melbourne. Have a great week..I'll be back later this week with some scraps and shadows to share Gx
