yums and some news...

 
 This morning Rhi and I got busy making our favourite Christmas treats...we made
a double batch this time so there's plenty more to go around :)

 

..also got a few last minute cards using these gorgeous little vintage tickets, you
 can download them free from Miss Cutie Pie..thanks for visiting :)

Oops I forgot to add before what my news was..I found out this week that I made
it onto the Qtea creative team!!..you can see the announcement here..really looking
forward to creating with these quirky vintage kits..Congrats to fellow CT members
Sharmaine, Belinda (both from Tassie btw) and Merdrey :)

Christmas I mean...but I'm sure you know that already!..since it's been in the
 shops since about October!..I've made a start on my cards this week at least..

I've just made these couple of very quick cards this morning as I have a busy day;
playing tennis, shopping for my dad's birthday present and out for dinner to celebrate

While I was MIA..

This one is for the July jack (Charmane Koch layout) at Aussie scrapjack..and yes, glimmer
misting is still my fave technique to do..I used a Tattered Angel screen for the  design
at the bottom - by masking then misting over with another colour, love the effect :)





and this was for the June Aussie Scrapjack - this time a Melissa Corbett LO was jacked





A fun one of Jem, showing what's she's into at the age of 10. The red paper on the
right is actually a recycled sushi bag and it was too gorgeous not to use!





I've masked with glimmer once again using a Tattered Angels screen from the same
pack as the one above (3 in the pack)..lots of vintage bits on this one :)



The pearl beads above were sewn on and threaded either side..





This was a technique challenge over at Method Playground..and was to use some sort
of non-scrap paper such as tissue paper, kitchen towel or toilet paper..I chose the
kitchen towel and cut out these hearts..then glimmer misted and stencilled with
gesso..I really love the quilted texture and enhanced it with some hand-stitching





I'm really loving the shabby chic look on scrap pages around the place atm, and although
I struggle to find my shabby side..lol, I can see elements of it in this one..I've used some
masking tape and white paint under the photo and looking forward to experimenting
more with this technique in the future..





..and this LO, which is really old now is in the latest issue of Scrapbook Creations
..and my first one published in this great magazine, so very exciting :)

scraps and cards...

Earlier this week I scrapped this pic of Jem on her birthday last year when she
received her first watch..a cute Hello Kitty one :)



.and no they're not boot prints..it's paint stencilling ;P





last week's challenge on Wicked Princesses was the 'greed' sin..and having to use a
yellow, black and white colour scheme..so I chose one of several greedy obsessions I have..



...and the card with the same colours and 'best wishes' theme



Week 6, starting today is the 'gluttony' sin and I made the card today..will share
the layout later this week..still thinking about how to go about it..

some reveals..

I've been busy scrapping whenever I get the chance lately..and this one is for the
May 123 challenge blog...the requirements were to use 3 pieces of ribbon creatively,
a long and mixed title and to use journaling spot (cut mine in half).. heaps of fun
making this a whimsical LO to match the photo.. Also I was very grateful to be
the featured member here this month..thanks Charmane and Karlene :)





..and back to the '7 Deadly Sins' challenge happening over at Wicked Princesses..
this was the 2nd sin..'Envy'..so here is my take on that one..seems like I'm not
alone on this one either!

..and I found the 'Wrath' challenge..quite hard last week..trying to come up with
something that angered me..beyond the everyday things..such as mud being traipsed
through the house..etc..so I based it on the feelings I had as a child learning about
the slaughter of seal pups and without going into the gory details of how this was
done..I don't recall having such strong emotions of sadness and anger at that age
(about 11) as I had over this...Of course this is only one topic..the same could be
said about whaling, animal smuggling and even battery hens..maybe another LO ;P



Yesterday I did this one for the 'sloth' sin challenge...and based it on my habit of
procrastination!  I really enjoyed this one and added heaps of stitching and water
colour inks..2 of my favourite techniques at the moment..





Last week I did my first post for the Kiti Q blog along with another card and 2 layouts
using these gorgeous Pink Paislee papers which are available in the shop..this
is the Mother's Day card using the left overs..



..and finally, this card was for a National Scrapbooking Day challenge on May 4th

  
and yet another sketch challenge over at WP..

cards and catching up..

I think I must be fixated with birds at the moment.. the above card is based on
Chloe's sketch and I've painted the chipboard bird and added the wing..

The card below was a 'blind card scrap' - you're given a list of instructions with no
 illustrations on what to do..heaps of fun and all the cards were so different.

 

I'm taking part in the 7 Deadly Sins challenge at Wicked Princesses..it runs for 7
weeks  and kicked off with the first sin 'Pride..or Vanity'.. as you can see it had
to be all purple and use the title 'celebrate you'..here is my take "D



for the layout, it had to be titled 'all about me'..a real challenge, and the first time
I have scrapped myself..eek, but better than I imagined it would turn out and I had
fun stencilling with glimmermist, and playing with the old lace which was
hand painted purple to match..I grunged up the edges with ink and water colour..





For week 2 the theme is Envy... the card is to been green and black only, use
doodling and a transparency and say good luck..For the transparency I made
a clear window from some recycled packaging.. Will hopefully have come up
with something for my layout re 'envy' and post it later this week..



It's a gorgeous sunny Autumn Day here..rain was forecast..so we are lucky to enjoy the
sun for a while..heaps to do in the garden..time to get of the computer!! Gx

Jem's first scrap challenge..

This month at Aussie Scrap Jacked there is a special section open to young scrappers
..and of course there was no stopping Jemma..broken arm or not! She's done a lovely
job..just love all the doodling and the big flowers :P



This layout was for the Out of the Hat April challenge: to scrap a non-square or
rectangular shaped layout, to use lace in a different way (I made the little lace
flower) and also to add a non-traditional item..hence the postage stamp
