step-by-step.. creating layers with scraps

My final ScrapFriends tutorial was published recently, so I thought I'd go ahead and share it here too...

I tend to keep all my paper scraps..even the tiny ones because they are just perfect for adding texture and layers to pages.. here are most of the items I've used, many of which are available in the ScrapFriends shop..

to start off roughly work out the design by layering the scraps together..if needed you can cut them to size. I've cut some v's out of a few to sit below the photo and also hand-cut some cameras and feathers..

the next step is to add some gesso with a palette knife and spray around the edges with a white mist, adding a few splatters as well..

then stick down the layers, 'teasing' up the corners a bit here and there..

add some embellishments and hand cut pieces..

I've also added some washi into the layers.. first I cut the washi in half lengthways and added it under the layers for a more subtle look..

and finish with some ink splatters and stamping, title and journaling

vintage ♥ at KIU

there's another fabulously fun challenge up at Kraft it Up this month.. and the theme is vintage! Of course you can interpret vintage however you like and I guess my layout could be described as 'modern vintage'.. Modern in the use of colour and technique but still incorporating vintage elements including quite a few items that I've had in my stash for many years!

just love the JBS tag, and vintage label..and the gorgeous little pearl flowers came from D-Lish Scraps.. For the background I've used pieces of vintage dress pattern and gesso.. 

I've also used a JBS stencil and SODAlicious stamps with white ink to add a few highlights..and added a wood veneer heart which I stained with distress ink..

I've scrapped the 'take a walk' challenge about my girls walking to Cradle Mountain here in Tasmania..it was a challenging walk for them but the views were spectacular and they were so pleased when then got to the top..

I've used lots of JBS goodies on this one, some old, some new including the flatbacks, modern mercanitle paper, leaves and washi..

oops ~ better late than never..

For some reason I overlooked sharing this one..it was form KIU's March challenge, which was a very cool sketch from Angela at ScrapFriends..

I've used lots of Studio Calico Darling Dear on this one, along with some recycled tissue paper from Paper Issues, washi from PaperVine and a Kaisercraft stamp..

wishing you a creative weekend coming up..with the cold and wet weather we're having I know that's what I'll be up to!

I've used Kasia's fab sketch on this one and wanted to create a colourful and detailed layout of my daughter;s artwork and the April Citrus Twist kits were just perfect..I've used the main, add-on and embellie kits here..

loving the Maggie Holmes fabric frames for the details and texture and I've wound some twine from the kit packaging around the Dear Lizzy flair...

the sweet butterly embellie was made by fellow CTK DT Angie and I think these woodgrain thickers might be my fave ones yet!

Kraft it Up has such a fun challenge going at the moment..to use some recycled product packaging on your layout!.. now that's something we all have oodles of!... so really hope you can have a go!..here is what I came up with..

I've used a glassine bag which had Evalicious flair inside, and a kraft chevron bag from Citrus Twist.. and the groovy packaging from Studio Calicio veneer shapes.. 

a great thing about recycling pretty bags on your layout is that you can put some hidden journaling inside..as I did on this layout..I wrote a message to my beautiful girl ;)

The thickers above were a plain white and I coloured them a cool lime using ink and markers.. I love how the marker has roughed up the edges a bit..

guest designing at PDCC

scattergories @ jbs

hi there..I thought I'd share this layout I created for a challenge at JBS called 'Scattergories' 
I chose the letter 'G' for this one..and have included things such as; gold, green, grey, girl, globe paper, gems, Glitz, grid paper, graph paper and glimmer mist.. 

for the background I used an exclusive JBS stencil, spraying glimmer mist through it in a couple of spots then reversing and printing with the excess mist..

citrus twist shares...

Hi! I have a few creations this month using the gorgeous main, add-on and embellie kits..the combination rich and soft colours are so easy to work with..and as always the exclusive CT stamps and handmade embellies add that unique touch.. 

this layout was made using Kasia's sketch..

I shared a tutorial on the CT blog here with a few tips on how I make the white paint splatters..

I've used lots of bits and pieces from the embellie kit..including this cute AC camera flair :)
