Gingerbread

a little project..

Some of you will know that I am not a sewer (unless it's on cardstock or patterned paper), I
can only do basic hand-stitching, for sewing on a button or darning a sock etc..and sewing
machines and I clash like nothing else..something to do with having a lead foot lol..so I
decided to challenge myself and create something for Miss R to wear. This week's challenge
at embellished idol is to create a piece of wearable art, and even though I was eliminated
from the comp last week I decided to go ahead to try it anyway..here's the result



please don't look too closely at the stitching..I had a few issues with the stretchy t-shirt
material  and fraying of the fabric in the leaves, having to redo a couple..but all in all I am
rather pleased with it and looking forward to experimenting further. I came up with the design
in my head straight away, but the stitching was pretty time consuming, but enjoyable...I've
since been told about interface to adhere the shapes which I will look into next time :)



there's now an extra leaf sewn on above..didn't think it was balanced properly before!



I'll be back soon with some scrapping and shadows..it's a lovely Spring day..and guess what..
we've have sunshine!! so I really should go out and enjoy it..Have a lovely Saturday :)

Twilight Sail & Craft by Jem

Earlier this week I was lucky enough to join Jem's cub pack aboard
the Lady Nelson replica sailing ship. I posted about it here last year
It was a glorious night to be on the water. Unfortunately the
battery went dead in my camera so I wasn't able to get many shots

I got dizzy watching the crew go up and down the mast...

helping to put the sails back up...

Jem made this gorgeous pot/saucepan mat for me at school this
week. It's made from hessian and wool and so beautifully done..

I think it's too nice to use in kitchen so I've put it above the door...
right beside the one big sis made when she was in grade 3  :O)

They match the deep blue wall really well too  :O)

More stitches..

I gave up on the blanket stitch after the first 2. So the next 3 were
a lot quicker to do...and no more 'issues' with the cotton knotting
up...I'm not a very patient sewer!

Christmas Countdown

Thank you Beth for showing me these .... I had a go making one
last night. It will be a good way to use up these love heart buttons
I've had put aside for a project for years.. The plan will be to make
some aqua and purple ones too ~ that's the main colour theme of
our tree. [along with silver] But for now I'm continuing with my
purple obsession!
